About Montossorian
Discover our journey, philosophy, and commitment to excellence in Montessorian education.
Who Was Maria Montessori?
The name Montossorian honors Dr. Maria Montessori, a visionary educator whose legacy continues to inspire schools around the world.

Dr. Maria Montessori was the first woman in Italy to become a physician. Her work with children led her to develop an educational method that respects the natural development of the child and promotes independence, freedom within limits, and hands-on learning.
In 1907, she opened her first classroom, the *Casa dei Bambini*, in Rome. Her methods spread rapidly across the world, forming the foundation of thousands of Montessori schools.
At Montossorian School, we proudly carry forward her philosophy—creating nurturing environments where children grow into curious, confident, and compassionate individuals.

Montessorian Philosophy
The Montessorian method is based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood. Dr. Maria Montessorian discovered that experiential learning in this type of classroom led to a deeper understanding of language, mathematics, science, music, social interactions and much more. Most traditional educational approaches are teacher-centered with the adult "filling" the child with information. Montessorian education is child-centered, with the adult "following" the child.
